It is one of the things that is bringing back the fun of creating for me. I like to make things that get my hands covered with stuff.īut lately I have also discovered the wonderful world of creating things digitally. The skull print was from a pair of socks that was a bit too tight on me. Fortunately that is on the monkey's butt so it does not really show. The striped one is from a pair that got a little worn on one heal. I like wearing stripey socks and socks with colorful patterns. One of the things I craft with is old socks. Like an old frayed shirt, there is still lots of good material let to work with. But the power still exists to transform our selves. Maybe along the way we get a little bit scuffed up and battered around the edges. Maybe we did not start life with a whole lot. It is all about the power of transformation. I also like the symbolism of recycled crafting. I once read a post form a lady who bought some very expensive fabric, but she did not do anything with it because she was worried she would mess up and ruin her expensive fabric. You are more likely to experiment and take chances. If you craft with something you would normally just throw away, there is less stress that you will make a mistake and ruin it. Working with recycled materials is very freeing. It is also an affordable way to make things. Recycled crafting, also called upcycling, is good for the environment.
